This award will be explicitly linked to researching policy and practice in the field of widening participation in higher education and the applicant will be expected to demonstrate their interest in this area in their application. Following completion of the taught element of the MSc, the student will undertake a dissertation that focuses on an aspect of widening participation in Higher Education. The exact title of the dissertation will be negotiated with their supervisors and the WP Impact group.
The MSc in Social Research provides an expert grounding in the practice of social research. Upon completion of the course students acquire the necessary academic skills to develop, implement and evaluate social research, making the MSc an excellent basis for career development.
The scholarship is available for Home/EU students, to the value of the UK and EU tuition fee for the MSc, currently £5,470. In addition the successful applicants will receive a £1,500 bursary which may be used to cover any research costs that the student might incur.
